Artists, designers and craftspeople will gather at National Trust Standen in East Grinstead this September for The Maker’s Fair, a three-day celebration of heritage craft, contemporary design and creativity.

Taking place from Friday 11 to Sunday 13 September, 10am to 4pm, the fair will bring together talented makers from across the region and beyond, offering visitors the chance to browse unique handcrafted work, meet artists in person and discover the skills behind their creations. The event is free to attend with normal admission to Standen applying. Anyone paying for admission to the Maker’s Fair will be offered free admission to the next Maker’s Fair at Standen in May 2027.
Visitors can explore more than 50 stalls featuring a diverse range of makers, from traditional craftspeople keeping heritage skills alive to contemporary artists inspired by modern design. Live demonstrations throughout the weekend will give the opportunity to learn more about creative processes and the craftsmanship involved in producing handmade pieces.

As one of the country's most complete Arts and Crafts houses, Standen provides the perfect backdrop for the event. Designed by architect Philip Webb and filled with Morris & Co. interiors, the house continues to inspire artists and makers more than 130 years after it was built.
Dee Ball, Senior Visitor Experience Officer at Standen, said: "The Maker’s Fair celebrates the creativity and craftsmanship that sits at the heart of Standen's story. We're delighted to welcome so many talented makers to the property and to give visitors the opportunity to meet them, watch demonstrations and perhaps discover a unique piece to take home. It's a wonderful way to experience the Arts and Crafts spirit that inspired the house and garden."
The fair also offers visitors the chance to enjoy Standen as the seasons begin to change. Autumn is one of the most colourful times to visit the property, with the vibrant acer collection creating spectacular displays across the hillside garden. Seasonal produce, including pumpkins and squash grown in the Kitchen Garden, features in the garden and café, while walks through the estate offer far-reaching views towards Weir Wood Reservoir and Ashdown Forest.
For anyone looking for an inspiring day out, Standen combines arts, history and horticulture in a unique setting. Explore the Arts and Crafts interiors of the house, wander through the garden's distinct outdoor rooms, discover contemporary exhibitions, browse the second-hand bookshop and enjoy seasonal refreshments in the Barn Café.
