The nursery, linked to Pevensey and Westham Church of England Primary School, opened just five months ago and has already achieved a “strong standard” in leadership and governance, while meeting all expected standards.

Inspectors highlighted how closely the nursery is integrated within the school, with shared values and a clear focus on ensuring children get the best possible start to their learning journey. Children benefit from using school facilities such as the library, hall, fields and woodland areas, helping them feel confident and part of the school community from an early stage.

The report also praised the progress children are making, noting that some have improved significantly from their starting points. Children were described as confident and curious, developing strong communication skills and positive relationships with staff and each other.

Parents spoke highly of the nursery’s impact, with some saying their children are so happy they ask to attend even on days they are not booked in.

Inspectors recognised the warm, caring environment and ambitious curriculum, supported by strong links with school staff and leaders. Leaders were also commended for their clear vision and commitment to ongoing improvement.

With such a positive start, Little PAWS Nursery is already establishing itself as a valued and integral part of the school community.
