Pulborough Bowls Club players take to the green for 2026

After a lot of hard work, blood, sweat and tears preparing the clubhouse, out-buildings and green, ready for the new season, Sunday the 12th was finally the first opportunity for Pulborough Bowls Club players to take to the green for some practice ready for the new season.

12 pairs used all 6 rinks to play two games of 10 ends against different opponents, just to brush away any cobwebs and see how the green bowled early season.

It's surprising how a little bit of sunshine really helps by drying the green, improving the speed and lifting the mood! Historically the first roll-up of the new season can be heavy due to damp conditions, but minimal effort was needed to reach a long jack, which suited both young and older bowlers alike, with our youngest, Poppy and our eldest, Mike, both enjoying the afternoon!

The day was topped off with burgers, sausages and pork rolls, cooked by our President, Terry and his wife, Kate and consumed by the hungry bowlers!

Evening roll-ups now begin every Monday and Friday from 6pm and our first Open Day for potential members will be on Sunday the 26th April from 2-6pm, with anyone interested in bowling welcome to come along and have a go for free! Club contact details can be found on our website www.pulboroughbowlsclub.co.uk

We look forward to seeing you then!

Jane Gray, Club Secretary.
