Members of Run Wednesdays swapped their usual Saturday morning runs for a very different challenge, taking over the organisation of Eastbourne Parkrun.

The Eastbourne-based club brought plenty of energy, enthusiasm and, of course, experience to the weekly event, with members volunteering across the course to ensure runners and walkers could enjoy their Saturday morning 5k.
From marshals and timekeepers to barcode scanners and finish-line support, Run Wednesdays members took on the many roles needed to make Parkrun happen.
Led by Race Director Fenella Maloney, their aim was simple: to create a friendly, welcoming and well-organised event where everyone could enjoy being active, whatever their pace or experience.
For Run Wednesdays, which has built a strong reputation for encouraging people of all abilities to get involved in running, taking over the event was a great opportunity to give something back to the local running community.
Run Wednesdays chair Danny Garbett, said, " This was another opportunity for our club to fill almost all of the slots in a handover. It was a pleasure to do.
"It was such a lovely, friendly atmosphere, the sun was shining and with over 450 runners taking part it showed what Parkrun is all about - inclusivity, community and taking part. Run Wednesdays had a great time and look forward to the next one!"
Club members were out early checking the course before cheering participants around the route. Their encouragement helped create the supportive atmosphere that has become such an important part of both Run Wednesdays and Park Run.
The event also highlighted the breadth of the running community, with experienced runners taking part alongside complete beginners, families and those simply looking to start their weekend with some exercise.
For Run Wednesdays, the morning was another reminder of the positive impact local running groups can have.
The club welcome runners of different ages and abilities, whether they are training for their first 5k, aiming for a personal best, preparing for a longer distance event or simply looking for company on a run.
