Sage House celebrates 8th birthday with week of community events in Tangmere
A dementia support charity in Tangmere is inviting the local community to join in a week of celebrations this May, marking its 8th birthday with a series of fundraising events.
Sage House will host four days of activities from Tuesday 5 May to Friday 8 May, bringing together residents, supporters and local businesses to celebrate while raising vital funds for people living with dementia and their families across West Sussex.

Based in Tangmere, Sage House provides information, advice, wellbeing activities and practical support for people navigating dementia, as well as guidance for carers and loved ones. The charity relies on donations and fundraising to continue offering its services.
The birthday week will begin on Tuesday 5 May with the Sage House Bake Off, taking place from 10am to 3pm in Daisy’s Café. Staff will be baking a range of homemade cakes, which visitors can enjoy in exchange for a donation. Guests will also be invited to vote for their favourite bake, with a winner announced at the end of the day.
On Wednesday 6 May, the charity will host a Spinathon fundraising challenge, running from 8am to 4pm. Participants can book an hour-long slot on a spin bike and take on the challenge individually, as part of a team, or alongside colleagues.
This year’s Spinathon has a clear fundraising goal: to raise £5,000 — the equivalent cost of running Sage House for just one day.
Every day, people living with dementia and their families access support, guidance, activities and a safe space to connect at Sage House. Funds raised during the event will help ensure these services can continue.
Members of the public can take part by booking a bike or supporting the campaign through donations via the charity’s JustGiving page.
The celebrations continue on Thursday 7 May with a Birthday Celebration Sing-Along, taking place from 2pm to 3pm. Led by Lisa, the Activities Coordinator, the session will bring people together for an afternoon of music, laughter and community spirit.
Attendees are encouraged to dress fancy for the occasion, with a prize for the best dressed, and can also enjoy a special birthday-themed menu in Daisy’s Café. The event is donation-based, with all proceeds supporting the charity.
The week will conclude on Friday 8 May with a special birthday event featuring an Elvis tribute performance. The event has already sold out, reflecting strong support from the local community.
Emma Radley, Chief Executive Officer of Dementia Support, said:
“Reaching our eighth birthday is a wonderful milestone for Sage House, and it’s an opportunity to celebrate the community at the heart of everything we do. Each event during the week is about bringing people together while raising vital funds that allow us to continue supporting local families affected by dementia.
“Dementia can be an incredibly isolating experience, but Sage House is here to ensure no one has to face it alone. The support we provide every day is only possible thanks to the generosity of our community, and we can't wait to see what the next eight years brings for the charity.”
Members of the public, local businesses and community groups are encouraged to get involved in the events throughout the week, and the team at Sage House can’t wait to see everyone on each day.
