Strong start for Emsworth Outreach as Sage House expands local dementia support
The first Community Outreach session in Emsworth, launched by Sage House on Wednesday 1 April 2026, has already brought the local community together in a meaningful way.
More than 35 people attended the opening session at the Emsworth Sports & Social Club, enjoying an afternoon of games, singing and conversation. For many, it was an opportunity not only to take part in activities, but to connect with others who understand the experience of living with dementia.

The sessions, run by Sage House, the dementia support charity based in Tangmere, are designed to help people live well with dementia by providing support, guidance and a welcoming space within their local community.
Each weekly session includes structured, dementia-friendly activities followed by relaxed social time, with Sage House’s trained Wayfinders on hand to offer advice and reassurance to individuals and families.

Following the success of the Emsworth sessions, Sage House has also confirmed it will be taking on the existing dementia support group in Midhurst, previously run by West Sussex Mind.
The group has long been a valued source of support for people living with dementia and their carers, bringing people together through shared activities, music and conversation. Sage House will continue the sessions moving forward, ensuring that those who attend can maintain the connections, routine and support they rely on.
Emma Radley, CEO of Sage House, said:
“We were absolutely delighted to see so many people join us for the first Emsworth session. It was a real reflection of the strength of the local community and the importance of having accessible, supportive spaces. We’re equally pleased to be continuing the Midhurst group, ensuring that people there can keep accessing the support, connection and familiarity they value.”

While Sage House itself offers a wide range of services from its purpose-built hub in Tangmere, including Wayfinding, support groups and dementia-friendly activities, the Outreach programme brings that same ethos of care directly into local communities.
The focus remains on independence, dignity and everyday wellbeing.
For those living with dementia, the sessions provide continuity and connection. For carers, they offer a chance to speak with others who understand, and to access guidance in a relaxed, informal setting.
As demand for local support continues to grow, initiatives like these play an important role in ensuring that no one feels isolated. Sometimes, what matters most is simply having a place to go, familiar faces to see, and the reassurance that support is close at hand.
