“He leaves behind loving parents, a daughter, a girlfriend and many close family members and friends.

“Sam was always smiling and looking out for people and he is going to be so deeply missed.

“We are devastated by our loss and would ask that out need for privacy is respected at this difficult time.”

He volunteered for a Band of Brothers, a charity that helps young men who have been in trouble with the law.

Its CEO Nathan Roberts said: “Sam was a much loved and respected part of abandofbrothers Crawley. His death has rocked our community to its core. Everyone he met was struck by his eloquence, his passion and his caring nature.

“He joined our community a few months ago and immediately became an active and valued member. He had already stepped up to volunteer on our residential trainings and was also active in a project to create a garden for a local young lad facing a degenerative illness.

“His passing leaves a big hole in our community and we will honour his memory by continuing to be there for any young man in Crawley who is seeking to be the best possible version of themselves.

“Our thoughts are with Sam’s family and friends and anyone who was lucky enough to have known him.”
