The Landlord Martin had prepared a beacon outside in front of the old barn, which was lit at the same time as those others around on the downs. Inside the barn a band Fusion Sound, played traditional music and they were really good and kept us well entertained. We all had the chance to win a free drink by trying to knock down all the skittles or ringing the pegs with hoops, I was hopeless, but one young man was winning so many free drinks, his game had to be called to a halt. A table of food was provided for us with Queen size scones with jam and cream. Thank you to all at the Swan for making it a memorable evening.

LADIES GROUP: Helen Herbert gave us a very interesting and informative talk about Health matters, and what could go wrong. We listened and learnt. Helen is an Emergency Health Practitioner and told us how to assess our own needs and those of others and what are the best steps to take in an emergency. She emphasised that there are many people who use the emergency numbers unnecessarily but reassured us that when certain things happen then there should be no delay in calling for help. Helen was easy to listen to and we all wished that we could have access to her when things go wrong.

ST LAURENCE CONCERT: On Saturday by Roedean Music Scholars was truly entertaining. Beginning with the youngest pupils playing piano and violin progressing to the older pupils and ending with an amazing solo soprano singing Der Holle Rache from the Magic Flute. This was a highly polished and professional performance by all of these young girls, and we truly thank them for coming to entertain us so well.
