That’s the message going out from the owners of Fuel Road House who want to open the new coffee house and restaurant at Holmbush Farm in Faygate.

Holmbush Farm owner Piers Calvert is currently seeking planning permission from Horsham District Council to vary a condition of planning consent to allow the new eatery to open.

But objections are being raised by some local residents who fear the venue could end up becoming a meeting place for ‘boy racers.’

The residents say that Fuel Road House – which already has a coffee house and burger bar near Henfield – is known for holding motorcycle and car meets.

However, Pete Jones, one of the owners of Fuel Road House, said: “We are not building this for Idiot boy racers – they are obviously not our clientele. This is for families and car enthusiasts to come down and enjoy the food drink and everything this place has to offer.”

He added: “We have a 16-camera CCTV system in operation as well as a team of well-drilled marshalls who will instantly ban any idiots who step out of line. They will not be welcome here.”

He explained: “We have designed and built an automotive-themed restaurant, coffee house and shop for the whole family to enjoy, with plenty of seating inside and outside in our beautiful garden.

"Inside we have a large Scalextric track, racing simulators, local artwork, and break-out spaces.

"We will serve locally sourced food and drink when we open. A shop stocking our own products as well as a select few other brands. We have also partnered with Chestnut Tree House and a proportion of all our profits will be donated to them.”

On its website advertising its coffee house at Golding Barn Industrial Estate in Small Dole, Fuel Road House says: “We would like to invite you to our coffee house and burger bar ‘Fuel’.

"Born out of our desire to create a destination in the South Downs for people who love great coffee, awesome food and appreciate all things automotive. Think of us as a clubhouse for everyone.”
