West Sussex Tesco superstore reopens after electrical fault forces temporary closure and disrupts deliveries

Tesco has confirmed its Broadbridge Heath superstore has reopened following an electrical fault which forced it to close temporarily, with customers reporting cancelled online deliveries.

The Horsham Extra supermarket was forced to shut on Saturday (October 17), leaving shoppers uncertain about when it would reopen.

The disruption also appears to have affected customers expecting home deliveries, with several residents taking to social media to report cancelled orders.

Tesco has since confirmed that the store is open as usual following the temporary closure.

A Tesco spokesperson said: “Our Horsham Extra store is open as usual following a temporary closure yesterday. We apologise for the inconvenience caused.”

The supermarket confirmed that the closure was necessary while an electrical fault was repaired.

Concerns about the closure emerged on Saturday, when residents began sharing information on local Facebook groups.

Posting in the We Love Dorking group, one shopper warned: “Just in case it saves someone a wasted journey. the Tesco at Broadbridge Heath, Horsham is currently closed due to a power outage.”

Meanwhile, a post in the Horsham Recommends Facebook group asked whether the supermarket had reopened, prompting several responses from customers.

One person reported that power had returned at around 11pm, although another commenter said the store was still closed when they visited shortly afterwards.

Other residents suggested the supermarket had needed additional time to restock refrigerated products before reopening.

Despite the store reopening, some customers reported continuing problems with their online shopping deliveries on Sunday morning (October 18).

One user report read: “My rebooked delivery for late morning has been cancelled again, so not sure if more issues?”

Others also reported receiving an email cancelling their delivery, which had been scheduled on Sunday morning.

But one customer said their delivery had still arrived as planned.

It remains unclear how many online orders were affected by the disruption.

Tesco has apologised for the inconvenience caused by the temporary closure and confirmed that its Horsham Extra store is now operating as usual.
