Wizz Air strengthens London presence with third Airbus A321XLR aircraft at London Gatwick
Wizz Air, the fastest-growing European airline and London’s local airline, have announced the allocation of its third Airbus A321XLR aircraft, further strengthening its presence in London with the addition of the aircraft to its London Gatwick base from September 1.
The delivery marks another milestone in Wizz Air’s continued growth across the capital and underlines its long-term commitment to affordable, efficient and customer-focused travel from the UK.
With this latest addition, Wizz Air now has six aircraft based at London Gatwick, alongside 15 aircraft at London Luton, bringing its total UK-based fleet to 21 aircraft.
The Airbus A321XLR, the latest evolution of Airbus’ A320neo family, enables Wizz Air to operate longer routes more efficiently using a single-aisle aircraft.

Its extra-long range capability opens up new non-stop destinations previously served primarily by wide-body aircraft, allowing passengers to enjoy lower fares, more direct journeys and a significantly reduced carbon footprint compared to traditional long-haul operations.
Proud to be the airline that connects different cultures around the world, Wizz Air will increase the frequency of its daily flights to Jeddah.
Serving the historic connection from London to Medina and Jeddah, the airline offers nearly half a million seats in 2026 to the Land of the Two Holy Mosques.
Passengers travelling on Wizz Air’s A321XLR can expect spacious, modern cabins, improved comfort, quieter flights and Wizz Air’s well-known ultra-low fare offering, with no business class and more seats dedicated to affordable travel for all.
Yvonne Moynihan, managing director at Wizz Air UK, said: “The allocation of our third A321XLR is a clear signal of Wizz Air’s long-term commitment to the London market.
“London is a city of diversity and our network is intentionally designed to reflect and serve that diversity. That’s why we are London’s low-cost airline.
“Adding this aircraft to our Gatwick base strengthens our ability to offer more direct routes to an even greater variety of destinations, including our unique long-range connections to Saudi Arabia.
“Our lower fares enable greater choice for customers travelling from the capital, while continuing to operate one of the youngest and most efficient fleets in the industry.”
The new aircraft will enable Wizz Air UK to increase frequency on its routes from London Gatwick to Valencia and Prague, offering daily flights to both cities from September.
The addition of the third A321XLR at Gatwick builds on Wizz Air’s continued expansion at nearby London Luton Airport, where the airline will operate 15 based aircraft and connect UK travellers to 66 destinations from summer 2026, reinforcing its focus on affordable travel and enhanced connectivity from London.
