Stagecoach South East’s Hastings Operations Manager, Dan Mayhew, traded the comfort of his bed for a sleeping bag to take part in The Big Sleep Out 2025, raising over £750 to support local homeless and rough sleeping services run by The Seaview Project.

For one night only, Dan joined dozens of other participants at the event in St Leonards, experiencing a glimpse of what life is like for those forced to sleep rough. The Big Sleep Out encourages individuals and teams to come together, raise awareness, and generate vital funds to support people facing homelessness in the local community.

Dan Mayhew, Operations Manager at Stagecoach South East, said:

“I’ve seen homeless people in our community and can’t help but feel I should do something to help. Sleeping out for one night is nothing compared to what they go through day by day, but I hope it helps make a small difference.”

Dan’s efforts raised a total of £757.50, made up of £410 in donations plus £97.50 in gift aid, and an extra £250, kindly donated by Stagecoach, which will go directly towards The Seaview Project’s vital work providing food, shelter, and support for those in need.

Stagecoach South East is proud to support Dan’s initiative and the broader mission to tackle homelessness across Hastings and the surrounding areas.
