Treve Summer Festival is back for 31st year

The Treve Summer Festival near Petworth runs from July 18-August 2, 11am-6pm daily, with 2026 marking its 31st year.

Spokesman Euan Cunningham said: “We very much look forward to welcoming visitors to the annual Treve Festival set in the traditional Sussex timber framed cottage, working art studios and gardens of our West Sussex home.

“Treve Cottage is a traditional 17th century Sussex timber-framed and tile-hung building that nestles in the beautiful West Sussex countryside at the heart of the South Downs National Park. Every year for two weeks in the summer the cottage and gardens become the home of the annual Treve Art Festival.”

Resident artists Sally and Euan, their artist friends and selected guests come together to exhibit, demonstrate their artforms and run art workshops for visitors.

“This year we have special guest artists. Martin Langford is a multi-award-winning printmaker who creates linocuts and etchings with humorous and thought-provoking themes. Kate Boxer is a Sussex artist printmaker and painter who creates energetic portraits and animal prints.

“There will be a programme of acoustic music at weekends from numerous local musicians and those further afield including the fabulous Nunhead Folk Circle all the way from Peckham, south-east London, with their folk-infused African-inspired original songs.”

As ever many members of the Cunningham family will be exhibiting or performing.

There will be silk scarves from the founder Bronnie Cunningham, linocuts by her husband Sandy and daughter-in-law Sally Cutler, paintings by her sister Deryn O/Connor, sculpture, paintings and illustration by her son Euan, paintings by her grandson Samuel and T-shirts and music by another grandson Felix, music by her granddaughter Minnie and sons Andrew and Euan.

“32 artists will be exhibiting this year, showing an exciting and varied selection of artworks providing the perfect opportunity to purchase unique, handmade art direct from the artists themselves, featuring numerous Sussex-based artists.

“Meet the artists and watch them at work, make something yourself at a free art workshop, see inside the printmaking and painting studios and then relax and enjoy a snack in the garden from the pop-up cafe.

“Explore the artwork displayed across the traditional 17th century Sussex cottage, the art marquee, the old studio, the printmaking studio, the painting studio, the micro cinema, the woodland sculpture trail, the store and the gardens.”

“Children are very welcome. Look out for the Musical Sculptures in the garden just waiting to be played. Watch the films in the micro cinema and enjoy the woodland trail with its little bridges to cross over. See if you can Make a Splash with a donation to Water Ade and enjoy the Arty Dip.”
