Former Cardiff City and Sutton United boss NOT in contention for Crawley Town job, club sources say

Former Cardiff City and Sutton United boss Steve Morison is NOT in contention for the Crawley Town job, according to club sources.
It has been reported by multiple outlets that the Reds has identified the 43-year-old as the leading candidate to replace Colin Kazim-Richards.
Kazim-Richards, along with assistant Julian Gray and Director of Football Erdem Konyar, departed the Broadfield Stadium just hours after their 3-2 defeat to Shrewsbury on Tuesday night.
The former Brighton striker was appointed at the back end of last season with seven games remaining and the seismic task of keeping Crawley in the Football League. He did just that, securing the Reds place in League Two for this season and avoiding relegation by just one point on the final day of the season.
He was made permanent manager at the start of the season but with just one win and seven defeats leaves Crawley languishing at the foot of the League Two table on five points. Former Leeds manager Kevin Blackwell was appointed interim manager for Saturday’s game against Tranmere.
Speculation about who would be the next manager started straight away with the likes of Stuart Maynard, Dave Challinor and Andy Woodman – who was sacked by Bromley this week – being mentioned by fans.
But former Wales striker Morison looked to be the favourite when it was reported by, among others, Sky Sports senior journalist Peter Smith. He posted on X: “Crawley have made an approach to Steve Morison to become their next manager. League Two bottom side sacked Colin Kazim-Richards this week with Kevin Blackwell made interim boss. Ex Wales striker Morison managed Cardiff in the Championship before spells at Hornchurch & Sutton.”
However, the Crawley Observer understands from club sources that he is NOT in contention for the vacant job.
Adam Hinshelwood, Michael Appleton and John Coleman are other contenders for the Reds job that have been mentioned by betting companies.
Morison, along with Challinor, is one of the favourites to be the next Bromley manager.
