Works begin on East Wittering Primary School playground refresh
Work has begun to improve the playground at East Wittering Primary School, with the first phase of improvements completed during the school summer holidays.
West Sussex housebuilder Barratt David Wilson Homes stepped in to fund the improvements to the school’s playground through contractor Archway Green, arranging for new rubber matting to be installed to help create a more comfortable and safer space for pupils to play.

The first phase of work was carried out over the summer holidays, meaning pupils returning to school this September will already be able to benefit from the improvements.
The project will continue during the October half-term, when wetpour rubber playground safety surfacing is planned to be installed, further enhancing the area for pupils.

Grace Millican, School Bursar at East Wittering Primary School, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to Barratt for supporting us with these improvements to our playground. The new rubber matting installed over the summer has already made a positive difference, giving our pupils a safer and more comfortable space to enjoy.
“We’re looking forward to the next phase of the work and seeing the improvements continue. We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved for helping to make this possible.”
Megan Hamlyn, Marketing Manager at Barratt David Wilson Homes Southampton division, said: “When we heard that East Wittering Primary School wanted to make improvements to its playground, we were keen to see how we could help.
“Thanks to Archway Green, work has now got underway, with the first phase completed over the summer holidays. We’re pleased that pupils are already able to benefit from the improvements and look forward to seeing the next stage of the project take place in October.”
