The application form described the plan as the ‘installation of stand alone frame with defibrillator and bleed kit cabinets for community use in the vicinity of a Nationwide Building Society.”

St John’s Ambulance provided details of the cabinets in the application, saying the body is made of tough polyethylene. This means the cabinets are ‘highly resistant’ to corrosion and impact. Their statement said: “The door is made of polycarbonate, the same material used in riot shields.”

It added that the cabinets feature ‘efficient internal illumination’ to make it visible at night. The cabinets also feature metal hinges with security fixings to minimise the chances of damage or vandalism.
