Hailsham family business sold after 35 years

Haulaway has been acquired by EverGrowth Group, a UK based business set up in 2025 which specialises in buying and developing established service companies.

Haulaway was founded by the Holloway family in 1991 with two skip lorries. It has now grown into a large waste management and recycling business serving customers across East Sussex and the South East.

Bosses Colin Holloway and Julie Holloway will continue to be involved with the business as the transaction takes place and will also retain ownership of the Polegate waste management site.

Haulaway had become a familiar name in Hailsham and the surrounding area. The transaction involved separating Haulaway's two businesses, with the Hailsham operation being sold to EverGrowth. An EverGrowth spokesperson said its approach is to retain original names, employees, management teams and customer relationships of the businesses it acquires, rather than absorbing them into a single corporate entity.

Colin Holloway said that since its foundation, Haulaway has built strong and lasting relationships with customers, suppliers and employees. He praised EverGrowth, saying the company took the time to understand the business, how it operates and what has made it successful. He went on: "Julie and I are pleased to be joining this group and believe this provides a strong platform for the business to continue developing while maintaining the service and relationships our customers have come to expect."

EverGrowth was founded by Chris West and Ferdie Ahmed. It focuses on acquiring established businesses. Chris West said his own family background in the waste industry had given him an appreciation of the work involved in running a business such as Haulaway. He said: "Colin and Julie run a tight, proper business that Hailsham relies on. That kind of discipline is what we want to build on across the group."

He said he grew up around his family's waste business so knows how much graft goes into running a yard like this.
