Two young cricket friends are running a half-marathon with a difference this weekend to raise money for our NHS health heroes.

Fred Clements, aged ten, from Elsted and William Homes, nine, from Harting, will run between the creases on their back garden cricket pitches for 13.1 miles, and chalk up 2,387 runs between them, for NHS Charities Together and Chance to Shine.

The Oakwood Prep School pupils drew inspiration from William’s cousin, Rob Treasure, who, along with friends Charlie Newman and Rob Cross, raised more than £7,000 with their own cricket garden marathons last weekend.

And Fred and William were not the only ones inspired by the trio – England cricketer and world cup hero Ben Stokes also completed a cricket half-marathon in his own garden on Tuesday after seeing their challenge.
