Lindfield Bonfire Night 2026: Programme and event details

Lindfield Bonfire Society’s celebrations return for an evening of torchlit processions, traditional costumes, bonfire and fireworks.

Lindfield Bonfire Society (LBS) is making its final preparations for its annual Bonfire Night celebrations, which will take place on Thursday, November 5 2026.

Planning for this much-loved community event is a year-round undertaking, with volunteers dedicating countless hours behind the scenes to deliver one of Sussex’s most enduring traditions.

Founded in 1894, the Society organises the village’s Bonfire Night festivities, featuring a torchlit procession through Lindfield, the traditional lighting of the bonfire on the Common, and a spectacular fireworks display.

As part of the evening’s activities, volunteers will also be collecting donations in support of its chosen local children’s charities. Spectators are encouraged to bring cash and contribute to the collection buckets along the route and at the event site.

The Society relies entirely on fundraising and community support to stage the annual celebrations.

Stewart Rose, Press Secretary for Lindfield Bonfire Society, said: “It costs approximately £18,000 each year to stage Lindfield’s Bonfire Night celebrations. We raise these funds through events, collections, merchandise

sales and our annual programme.

“We are incredibly grateful for the support we receive from residents, visitors, local businesses and volunteers.

"Every donation helps ensure that this unique Sussex tradition can continue for future generations to enjoy.

“Many organised firework displays charge an admission fee. As our event remains free to attend, we hope spectators will consider making a contribution towards the cost of staging the celebrations.”
