Services resume at Eastbourne hospital following power outage
Services have resumed at Eastbourne District General Hospital following a power outage, the East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust has confirmed.
The Trust reported that on Tuesday, January 6, that Eastbourne DGH had been affected with a power outage which had impacted ‘a number’ of its services.

The Eastbourne Midwifery Unit (EMU) also had to close temporarily due to the outage.
In an update at 11.32am the same day, the Trust confirmed that power had been restored but urged residents to only attend its emergency departments for ‘serious or life threatening emergencies’.
A spokesperson for the East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust said: “Power has been restored to all areas of Eastbourne DGH following an earlier power outage, which impacted on a number of our services.
"While the power has been restored, the outage put further pressure on our already extremely busy services.
“Please only attend our emergency departments for serious or life threatening emergencies.
“Pharmacies, your GP and NHS 111 can help you with anything that is not serious or life threatening, so please, help us to care for those who need us and choose the right care for you.”
