From kings to playwrights and entertainers to medical men, Worthing has a wealth of famous people connected to the town who have been honoured with blue plaques.

6. Edward Knoblock
Playwright Edward Knoblock, who wrote Kismet, lived at Beach House in Worthing from 1917 to 1923. In fact, he used the proceeds from the play to pay for the property and its refurbishment. Photo: JPIMedia
7. Alma Cogan
Singer Alma Cogan lived in Worthing with her family in the 1940s. She became a popular singer but sadly died aged 34 of ovarian cancer in 1966. Alma was known as 'the girl with the laugh in her voice’. She had 18 hit records in the 1950s, more than any other female singer that decade, and topped the charts in Iceland, Germany, Sweden and Japan, where she knocked Elvis Presley off the number one spot. 8. Alma Cogan
A blue plaque was unveiled at Alma Cogan's family home in Lansdowne Road, Worthing, in September 2017, by dancer and entertainer Lionel Blair, a very close friend. The plaque was funded by the Alma Cogan International Fan Club to mark the 50th anniversary of her death. Photo: JPIMedia
