Author Jane Austen arrived at Stanford Cottage, Worthing, on Wednesday, September 18, 1805, aged 29, to take up temporary residence with her family. She attended St Mary's Church in Broadwater and records indicate she would have been here when news of the Battle of Trafalgar broke.
