‘I've never heard': YouTube star IShowSpeed plans to visit Sussex destination in 2027
YouTube star IShowSpeed has named Chichester among the places he plans to visit in 2027 – while admitting he had never heard of the city.
The American internet personality – known to fans as Speed – mentioned the West Sussex destination in an ‘Unpack 27’ video, revealing places he intends to visit next year.
Initially confusing its name with Manchester, the 21-year-old then read out a description of the city’s history, culture and surrounding countryside.
“It's England southern coast history hub,” he said.
"It provides a creative culture spanning centuries and it's a well rounded escape for travellers who want to combine interests in the Roman and Norman periods with scenic countryside.”
The streamer’s own assessment afterwards was more straightforward: “To be honest, I've never heard of Chichester. Is anyone in the [live] chat from Chichester?”
Speed, whose real name is Darren Watkins Jr, is a YouTuber and live-streamer from Cincinnati, Ohio.
He has approximately 180 million followers and subscribers combined across his main platforms, based on reported October 2026 figures.
Speed first became known for gaming broadcasts and his energetic reactions, before expanding into travel videos watched by millions around the world. He is also a passionate football fan, particularly known for his admiration for Cristiano Ronaldo.
Speed performed his own song at the closing ceremony before the 2026 World Cup final between Spain and Argentina at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on July 19. He appeared as part of the pre-match entertainment, with other performers including Post Malone and Robbie Williams.
His travel broadcasts allow viewers to follow his experiences live as he explores destinations and meets people along the way. His international trips have become a major part of his online profile.
Although Chichester featured in his plans for next year, the remarks did not include a date for the visit or details of what he would do while in the city.
