Speed checks lead to vehicle seizure in East Sussex village

A vehicle was seized in Nutley after police officers stopped a driver for speeding, and discovered they had no valid licence or insurance.

Officers attended Crowborough Road last week to support the local Community Speed Watch team and help address road safety concerns.

A Facebook post, from Wealden Police, read: “During the operation, officers stopped a vehicle after it was detected speeding. Further enquiries revealed the driver was driving without a valid licence, no MOT and no insurance.”

The vehicle was seized under Section 165A of the Road Traffic Act, the force said.

Police said community speed watch schemes helped raise awareness of speeding and address concerns raised by residents.

“While many drivers take notice of the warnings and adjust their behaviour, this stop highlights how proactive enforcement can also identify other offences that put road users at risk,” the force said.

Officers also thanked the volunteers for their ‘continued support in helping keep our roads safe’.
