Would you like to assist your newly qualified South Coast Ambulance Service, (SECAmb) voluntary Community First Responder (CFR) - Tony Smith? He is still seeking financial assistance to cover the cost of the initial kit that SECAmb provide (but do not cover the cost). Maybe you have a business in the area or provide a service to the local community or just know people that may one day benefit from Tony’s skills and knowledge. This is a vital service to have as being a rural community he can probably arrive well before an ambulance and such saving of time can save lives. If you would like to give a donation towards this, no matter how big or small, please send your donations to Tony, cheques payable to A Smith CFR (New Account) and dropped in to him at Brownbread Horse Rescue Centre in Brownbread Street.

Ashburnham and Penhurst book group gets together on Friday May 25. This month, they are reading Dickens’ “Our Mutual Friend”. Their next book will be “A Spot of Bother” by Mark Haddon, (who wrote The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time), and the reviews are excellent. If you’d like to borrow a copy to read, give Nicky a call, you don’t have to go to their gatherings to read the books - just ask Nicky if you’d like to borrow a copy. Call her on 01424 892474.

Help Needed! The Ashburnham and Penhurst Diamond Jubilee Committee are organising some fun races on Monday June 4 as part of the Jubilee celebrations. There are a few things we would like to borrow for this event, if you can help or would like to help out on the day please phone Louise Roberts on 01424 893976.

They need..... Space hoppers, child’s football goal, and a badminton set, gazebos and small bales of hay. They are also on the lookout for old pairs of large size wellies which would not be returned.
