Bognor rapper and singer is set to conquer Europe

Adam has a continental tour lined up next year to mark the release of his first professionally produced album early next year.

He will be gigging in France, Germany and Holland to promote it; Switzerland is also a possibility for performances.

Satellite television music channels such as Kiss TV, AKA and Starz are lining up to show the video for his debut single, Whose That Girl?, from the album likely to be called My Life.

The government has also committed to using another of his songs, Put Down That Knife, in its next anti-knife crime campaign.

This has arisen from a five-figure contract with C17 Management and being taken on by Ben Price, the chief executive of Live and Unsigned and a music promoter.

It all points to 2012 being the breakthrough year for Adam, 24, of Seymour Place, with his marriage of mainstream music and hip-hop.

He said: “It’s an unbelievable feeling to be where I am now.

“I have been singing since I was 14 and to get this far I have had a lot of support from my family.

“There’s also been a lot of negativity. People are always saying things like ‘nobody from Bognor gets anywhere’.

“But I want to prove that’s not the case and give something back to my home town. I want to put it on the music map.

“My music has a wide range of appeal from 14 years to people in their 60s. A lot of rap is about guns and killing people but mine is completely different from that. It’s about my life.

“There’s a song for my mother, who’s not well, and another for my two-and-a-half-year-old daughter, and anyone can listen to it.”

That was not always the case. Adam was once axed from Bognor’s Rox music and arts festival because its organisers were unhappy with the tone of his music.

But neither that nor any other setback has deterred Adam from pursuing his dream.

His self-made CD, State Of Mind, has sold 5,000 copies in the past year.

He also won last year’s Sussex Music Talent Show and had his career kickstarted when he was talent spotted by top producer Darren Martyn.

He has worked with the likes of Tinie Tempiah, grunge artist Bashy and singer Sadie Aha as well as rappers Cold Steps and Fugitive.

Darren’s influence got top singer UK Worries on board for one of Adam’s songs, I’m Sorry.

“He sings the chorus with me and has a verse and it was a great experience recording it with him,” said Adam.

“There’s been a lot of sacrifices made by my family and me to enable me to get this far but it’s definitely been worth it.”
