Child discount for 2014’s Cranleigh Show

Held at the village’s showground off the B2127 on Saturday August 2 it features horse shows, competitive axe racing, a falconry display, vintage tractors, livestock competitions, aerobatic quad bikes, and a host of children’s activities.

The show is run by volunteers at the Cranleigh and South East Agricultural Society as a not-for-profit event and is one of the highlights of the area’s rural calendar.

The day will feature a range of farm animals, from long-horned Highland cattle to rare-breed sheep, magnificent pigs, to dinky pygmy goats, which will all be competing for coveted championships. Children will also be able to get close up to smaller animals in the Fishers Adventure Farm Park display.

The horse show has also been redesigned to make it a fun event for all horse and pony owners. There will be classes suitable for all levels, from lead rein to ridden hunters and retrained racers.

Main arena events include the Kangaroo Kid and his Joey, and one of the most exciting aerobatic quad-bike displays in the world.

The internationally famous lumberjack team Adam’s Axemen will be there with an amazing display of competitive axe racing.

Andy Jackman of the BBC’s One Man and his Dog will be explaining the unique bond between shepherd and sheepdog in the main arena and birdwatchers will have a field day thanks to Eagle Heights, one of the UK’s largest bird of prey centres based in Kent.

The display will feature a bald eagle named Kayla soaring above the crowd, a white-backed vulture called Becks, a falcon reaching speeds of 120mph, and a little barn owl.
