The last day of term was a mufti day, with students contributing £1 each. There was the additional incentive for those who came in costume to enter a competition for ‘best costume’.

The day raised around £600 which will be divided between BACE (Building and Assisting Communities with Education) and Share a Pen. Both these charities have former college students as their founders, and work in the Gambia and India respectively. The charities are chosen annually by the College Student Council. Headteacher Simon Potten says he is keen to develop the multicultural awareness of the pupils at the college and recognises that the opportunity to gain an insight into the third world is vital to their understanding.
