Could your child help us to turn on Christmas lights in Haywards Heath?

Believe it or not, there are just 68 days to Christmas, and preparations are already well under way to ensure our town centres sparkle.

In Haywards Heath the Christmas Festival Weekend will be held at The Orchards on November 24&25.

Alongside Father Christmas and the town mayor Jim Knight, the Middy will be there to help switch on the Christmas lights – and you could be there too.

We’re looking for a deserving child to join us in the grand procession at 4.30pm and, at 5pm on the stage, to help with switching on the lights on Saturday November 24.

Do you know anyone who has had a tough time and could do with a special treat? Or a child who has put themselves out to help others in need.

We want your nominations – email [email protected] and tell us who you are nominating and why.

Please include your name and a contact telephone number so we can get in touch with you if your child is chosen.

But it is not just the lucky winner who will have a magical weekend – everyone is invited to the festivities, with music, dancing and entertainment promised.

Father Christmas with his elves and live reindeer will be welcomed to the town by a marching band, 100-strong choir from St Wilfrid’s, St Joseph’s and Lindfield Primary, and by Mickey and Minnie Mouse, and Donald and Daisy Duck.

The grand procession will start at 4.30pm on November 24, arriving at The Orchards ready for the Christmas lights switch-on at 5pm.

The fun will continue with fireworks at Victoria Park.

“Christmas is truly a time for dreams to come true” says Nicola Bird, Orchards manager.

“We’re so lucky, here in The Orchards, to have so many friends who give their talents to bring joy and happiness to so many of our community.

“So make your dreams come true and join in the fun to make this Christmas just amazing!”
