Eastbourne Police partner with community to tackle violence against women and girls
Police officers in Eastbourne were patrolling the streets with Street Pastors to promote safe nights out.
A force spokesperson said: “Supporting a safe night out in Eastbourne

“As part of our work to tackle VAWG (Violence Against Women and Girls) and help keep Eastbourne's night-time economy a safe and welcoming place for everyone, officers regularly patrol the town centre alongside partners each weekend. During a recent patrol, officers joined Eastbourne Street Pastors to support their ongoing work helping people enjoy a safe night out.
“The Street Pastors, who are out every Friday and Saturday night between 10pm and 3am, offer support, a friendly face and a safe space for anyone who may need assistance during a night out.
“Whether it's helping someone get home safely, supporting vulnerable people, reuniting friends, or simply being there to listen, their volunteers play an important role in our community every weekend.
“The patrols also provided an opportunity to highlight schemes available across Eastbourne's night-time economy, including Ask for Angela and Ask for Clive, which allow people to discreetly seek help from venue staff if they ever feel unsafe or uncomfortable.
“A big thank you to the Eastbourne Street Pastors for the fantastic work they do week in, week out, helping people stay safe and enjoy their evenings responsibly.”
