“Parking safely around schools is everyone's responsibility, and a few extra minutes spent finding a safe place to park can make a big difference to the safety of children, parents and staff.

“Following concerns raised by Langney Primary School, officers joined local parking enforcement teams to carry out enforcement and preventative activity aimed at addressing concerns around unsafe parking during school drop-off times.

“The vast majority of parents and carers were parking responsibly, officers spoke with a number of drivers about the importance of keeping zig-zag markings, junctions and school entrances clear; unfortunately, despite officers and enforcement staff being present, two vehicles were parked on the school zig-zag markings and were issued with penalty notices.

“This was a targeted visit in response to concerns raised by the school and forms part of our ongoing work with schools and partner agencies to help keep children safe.

“Thank you to the many parents and carers who continue to park considerately and play their part in keeping the school run safe for everyone.”
