Connor Attridge, 26, unemployed, of Hyde Gardens, Eastbourne, was jailed for two years for a violent rampage in Parkfield Avenue on January 13. He tried to stab a woman in the stomach with a shard of glass and threatened parents picking their children up from school.

James Elliott, 39, of Hedley Way, Hailsham, was caught by police with five large bags of amphetamine weighing around 10kg and worth up to £100,000 in the boot of his car. On March 5, he was sentenced to 40 months in prison.

On April 19, Jonathan Smith, 57, of Tewkesbury, Gloucester, was jailed for 24 years for various sex offences against a child in Lewes in the 1980s and 1990s. The music conductor was extradited from Australia to face justice after his victim reported it to police 20 years later.
