Teen’s attempted bag snatch on schoolgirl in Burgess Hill

Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenage boy tried to grab the bag of a young girl in Burgess Hill.

A 12-year-old schoolgirl was walking home on Friday (October 11) and was in the alleyway next to the library at 3.15pm when the boy walked past and grabbed her bag.

The girl kept hold of her bag and flailed her arms. He caused a commotion shouting at her before walking on.

The boy is described as a white, aged 16 to 17, with bright blue eyes.

He has dark brown hair with blonde streaks in it. He was wearing a dark blue Hollister jumper with white writing on it, blue jeans and white trainers.

Detective Constable Matt Wilson said: “This was a frightening attack on a young girl that has left her quite shaken. I am keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened or recognises the man.
