Extractor fan cause of Brighton Hotel fire, fire service confirm

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service stated that it received repeat calls at 3.11pm on December 23 to reports of smoke on the fourth floor of the Imperial Hotel, First Avenue, Hove.

The hotel was evacuated and no injuries were reported.

Six firefighters used breathing apparatus to tackle the fire with emergency services leaving the scene at 7.27pm.

In an update on Wednesday, December 24, a spokesperson for East Sussex Fire and Rescue said: “A fire investigation has now taken place and it has concluded that the cause of the fire was accidental due to a fault with an extractor fan.”
