Water leak which closed St Leonards road repaired
A water leak which closed a road in St Leonards has been repaired but a sinkhole has been discovered.
Temporary traffic management was put in place on London Road on Sunday, May 31, after Southern Water fixed the leak overnight.
A spokesperson at Southern Water said: “Our teams have repaired a water leak on London Road in Hastings overnight on Saturday, May 30.

“All customers remained in supply while we fixed the leak, as we used tankers to support the water network.
"The remaining underground and reinstatement work is scheduled to last around seven days.
"Temporary traffic management is in place for a small section of London Road, so our engineers can carry out the work safely.
"Aa signed diversion is in place on the London Road via Sedlescombe Road North, St Helens Road, Queens Road, Albert Road and the A259.

“We’re sorry for the inconvenience this causes to residents and commuters and thank them for their patience.”
Hastings MP Helena Dollimore said: “I’ve spoken to Southern Water who repaired the leak. They also discovered a sinkhole under the road in the process which means resurfacing will be a bigger job.
"I’ve asked them to let me know how long this will take, and confirm that only the area 103-109 London Road will be impacted during this work.
"I’ve also asked for info on how long this leak was occurring during a heatwave when we know water is scarce, and what systems they had in place to detect it.”
