Flood prevention work planned for Shripney and Elmer ahead of winter
Flood prevention measures and drainage maintenance are being planned across the Bognor Regis and Littlehampton area ahead of winter, following concerns about the risk of flooding in communities including Shripney and Elmer.
Alison Griffiths, MP for Bognor Regis and Littlehampton, confirmed that both the Environment Agency and West Sussex County Council have responded to questions about their preparations for the coming winter months.

In an update shared on social media, the MP said the responses outlined maintenance work involving local rivers, rifes and drainage systems, alongside planned work around Shripney and improvements to flood protection at Elmer.
Mrs Griffiths also confirmed that she will be visiting Felpham Pumping Station and Elmer Beach with the Environment Agency later this month to discuss further investment in flood resilience and prevention across the constituency.
The MP said: “I've been raising flooding in Parliament since I was first elected, including concerns about building on flood plains. Through the Environmental Audit Committee and in Parliament, I've challenged the Environment Agency, DEFRA and Housing Ministers on flood prevention, new developments, and turning the concerns of local flood action groups into practical action.
“I'll continue pressing for progress and following up on what work has been completed and what still needs doing.
“If you're concerned about flooding, please check your property's flood risk and sign up for free flood warnings where available. West Sussex County Council also has useful advice on preparing your home, reporting flooding, and getting support.”
