Goodwood helicopter crash: Pagham man describes scene

A Pagham man has described the scene of a helicopter crash at Goodwood today (Wednesday, August 10).

The crash is believed to have happened at about 12pm today.

Retired firefighter Steve Grove, from Pagham, described the scene after arriving at the Aerodrome shortly after the crash.

A member of Middleton Camera Club, Mr Grove had been taking photos in the area when he spotted the wreckage.

He said: "I went down there to try out a new lens I had just bought. I could see the fire service there and I could see the helicopter.

"All the rotors were all smashed off and they were taping it all off and looking into the cockpit — there were a lot of people looking over the fence at it.”

It is not year clear whether there have been any injuries.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service has been approached for more information and the Air Accidents Investigations Bureau is expected to launch a probe into the incident.
