Lambchester Ewenited come to Newtimber in first ever lamb football match

The lambs were kitted out in miniature hand-made strips and guided by sheepdog managers, with the winning team for each match decided by the first to get all players across the goal line and into the back of the net.

Legendary pitch side pundit for Sky Sports Chris Kamara reported on all the action live ‘meadow-side’ for NOW TV.

He said: “I know I’m famous for saying ‘unbelievable, Jeff’, but I really don’t know how else to describe what I saw today, I suppose I could say it was a game of ewe halves?

“Fans have a lot to look forward to this Easter weekend if it’s even half as entertaining as what I’ve just witnessed.”

All captured on ‘lamb-cam’, the teams battled it out in a series of dramatic face-offs.

The first clash between Chelsea and Sunderland saw the Blues on top form, with Dembaa Baa leading his players to the back of the net with ease.

Norwich City and Liverpool were up next, in a match that saw Ricky Van Woolswinkel and Steven Gerraaard expertly dominate the match, but the sheer determination of the Anfield side paid off in the end.

The final match saw a close shave between Everton and Manchester United, with the Lambchester Ewenited lambs, as they were dubbed, sheepish in defeat following a last minute surge down the pitch from the Toffees.

Match statistics included three goals scored, 12 lamb footballers, two sheepdogs, 48 pairs of hooves, 28 litres of milk, 482 bleats and baas and an average age of five weeks.
