List of schools in the Gazette area closed because of teaching strikes

Thousands of schools across the country have closed today as teachers strike over pay, pensions and jobs.

The strikes have been taking place in the South East, London, Cumbria, the North East and South West.

Members of the National Union of Teachers and the National Association of Schoolmasters Union of Women Teachers have been organising the strikes.

The action has been condemned by education minister David Laws, who described the strikes as “bad for pupils and bad for parents” and said Government policy would not change.

The full list of school closures is below:

The following classes at Summerlea Community Primary School in Rustington are closed: Maple Class (early years), Holly Class (Year One), Oak Class (Year One), Cedar Class (Year Two), Elm Class (Year Four), Sycamore Class (Year Five).

Rustington Community Primary School: School is closed except for children in Year Six, Year Four and those in Norway class.

Georgian Gardens Community Primary School in Rustington: Closed.

The following classes at East Preston Infant School are closed: Wagtails (reception), Blackbirds (Year One), Swallows (Year One), Wrens (Year Two), Sparrows (Year Two). School will be open for Robins (reception).

Angmering School: School is closed for years seven to 10 and closed for Year 11, except for invited students.

It is open for years 12 and 13.

St Philip’s Catholic Primary School in Arundel: Closed to pupils in years reception, one, two, three and six and open to pupils in years four and five.

Slindon Church of England Primary School: Closed.

Due to the strike action on Thursday 17 October, Catkin Class (years reception, one and two) will be closed. All other classes will be open.

Yapton CofE Primary School: Closed

Littlehampton Academy: Closed for years seven to 10; open for years 11 to 13.
