Lucky Keith avoids '˜death' from crash by just 15 minutes

A MANAGER of motor dealership in Littlehampton has spoken of how he was '˜minutes from death or serious injury' following a crash at a garage.

Keith Sims, manager at Yeomans Honda, in Horsham Road, said he was ‘very lucky’ to be alive when a red BMW car lost control in the road, spun, hit a bollard and flipped onto its roof, landing on one of the parked display cars in the garage forecourt.

Three men were arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving following the crash, which took place at about 6.20pm – minutes after Mr Sims had finished raising the protective forecourt bollards which were ripped out by the force of the collision.

He said: “I think I’m very lucky to be alive. It had been a pretty quiet day and I thought that we could close a little earlier than normal.

“If I hadn’t done that, I would have been outside right when the crash took place.

“If I’d have been there literally 15 minutes later the impact could have caused serious injury, if not death, for myself, not to mention the people at the bus stop literally just five metres around the corner.”
