Men are chargedafter police chase

Two men have been charged with blackmail, driving offences and making off without payment following an early morning police chase through villages in the Rye area

on Thursday 10 October.

The vehicle, a Honda, was eventually forced to stop at Newenden, in Kent, just across the Sussex border from Northiam at 7am.

It had failed to stop for police officers in Mount Road, Hastings. at 6.30am.

A pursuit by police was authorised and the two men were arrested when the vehicle was .

Stefan Gilmore, 21, of no fixed address, is charged with blackmail, making off without payment, dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and using a vehicle without insurance.

While Liam Perry, 21, of Warrior Gardens, St Leonards, is charged with blackmail and making off without payment.

Both men appeared before Brighton Magistrates’ Court last Friday (October 11). They were remanded in custody pending another court appearance.
