More parking for free likelyto get go-ahead

Arun District Council has advertised its intention to scrap charges for motorists staying for up to two hours in the Hothamton car park.

As reported, it intends the free parking to take effect from the start of next year.

Drivers will be able to take advantage of the short-stay parking by buying a disc to display for £1. Details of where to buy the discs are not yet known.

Comments about the proposed change to the tariff at Hothamton, off Queensway, have to be made to Arun by December 5.

All the site’s other charges will stay the same. The car park will be the third in the town centre with free parking if it is approved.
