New Crawley town centre shop to create 30 jobs

Thirty jobs will be created when an empty Queens Square site is made into a Decathlon sports store this summer, it has been revealed.

The chain has started recruiting ahead of its new store opening in the empty building in the corner of Queens Square and Queensway.

A Decathlon spokesman said: “Crawley was chosen because the motto of Decathlon is making sport accessible to all and we realised there was a market in Crawley.

“We are working with local clubs and schools and leisure centres to provide them what they require.”

Crawley Borough Council cabinet member for economic development and planning Peter Smith said: “We are absolutely delighted that Decathlon are coming to Queens Square.

“It’s a result of a long period of time we have been wokring with them and the building owner to bring them together and make this work.”
