The new PCT is responsible for engaging with local people to improve health and well-being, commissioning high quality health and social care services, and for providing services in community hospitals, health centres, clinics and people's homes.

Chief Executive Nick Yeo said: 'I am looking forward to working in East Sussex, especially as it has such an interesting range of communities. I will really enjoy helping them improve the way the health and social services work together because if we can get this right it will make a tremendous difference.'

The new Board will meet for the first time on Wednesday, October 4, to complete the formal business to establish the new organisation. Local NHS issues will be on the agenda of the next Board meeting on November 2.

The new East Sussex PCTs will take forward the work to develop clinically viable and financially sustainable services in East Sussex and lead public consultation as part of the Surrey and Sussex-wide programme Creating an NHS fit for the future.
