New sponsor serves an ace deal for East Preston tennis club

VETERAN television presenter and sports fan Des Lynam has praised a new sponsorship deal for a tennis club in East Preston.

The celebrity, who lives in Kingston Gorse, welcomed the deal between the Angmering-on-Sea Lawn Tennis Club and its new sponsor estate agents Glyn-Jones, at the club’s base, in Homelands Avenue, last Friday (October 11).

The three-year deal between the estate agents and the tennis club – of which Des has been a member for many years – will see a £7,500 cash injection over the next three years.

Club chairman Philip Olver said he was delighted by the sponsorship deal.

“This is a huge step forward for the club, it really is,” he said. “It effectively pays for 30 members for us, which means that the money we have can be used to invest in the club’s facilities and coaching staff.

“But it’s more than that, this investment from Glyn-Jones shows a real strength of community.

“It’s local investment and backing going to a local organisation which helps residents, young and old, across the area.”

Glyn-Jones has five offices along the West Sussex coast, including the recently-acquired Jane Musgrave office in East Preston.

Managing director Ben Glyn-Jones said he was pleased to be associated with such a long-standing and highly-regarded tennis club.

He said his firm had been synonymous with the local property market for some 20 years and that they were committed to East Preston and the village’s way of life.

He said: “We very much look forward to our relationship with the club continuing to develop over the coming years.”

In thanking Ben Glyn-Jones for his support, Mr Olver said that some of the sponsorship would be used to further improve coaching and facilities for younger members.

He added, although it was still early days, he hoped to continue the link with the estate agents.

“It would be nice to continue this sponsorship after the three years is up,” he said.
