Olympic torchbearer nominated in Obsever Commmunity Awards

Chichester's own Olympic torchbearer Anthony Stewart has been nominated for the Observer Community Awards.

Local hero Anthony works tirelessly for the Parents and Carers Support Organisation (PACSO), providing activities for disabled children and their siblings.

It has already been a memorable year for Anthony after he carried the torch through Chichester. But the joy doesn’t stop there for him as he is now a contender to be crowned Best Community Person in our awards.

“It seems like I have spent years and years doing bits and pieces
and everything is now happening
at once,” he said. “I love the community awards.

“These past few weeks I have met so many people through me being a torchbearer. The great thing is I have met so many people that are doing things for the community.

“The more you put into Chichester, the better Chichester will be.

“I have been in and out of so many schools so children could see the torch and hold it. They all just think it’s amazing.”
