Facebook posts can hurt others

Reading the Revd Tricia William's comments on social media (Just a minute) made me reflect on my last few years on Facebook.

The rudest and most offensive posts and replies I have seen have been between those saying they are Christian and Muslim. You certainly see very quickly what is in many people’s hearts and minds. I, myself, have had my off days and bad moments, when trust built up over months is destroyed by a single post.

I have come to see that if I let God speak, I share the Bible, it is a quality post, and the standard immediately drops when I give my opinion of what God says. The same is true of every preacher and teacher, even the great ones. Sadly the majority of people have little or no interest in what God actually says, but love arguing over what they think he said without actually bothering to read it first.

Modern technology is not good or bad, just neutral until we use it. My Facebook wall is to share the Gospel and Bible, and many who know me would agree it would be better if I was not seen or heard.

The Summer Bible reading challenge continues, unless of course you prefer listening to our daily chapters via the link I provide. Thank you Tricia for reminding us how easily we can hurt others by our comments on social media and pointing us to the word of God, Bible, to give authority to your opinion.
