For two days they observed, interviewed, surveyed, debated, investigated, analysed, requested, suggested and delved into every area of Glebelands life with the aim of making an accurate assessment of the school as it is currently.

90% of staff were seen teaching, a number of key leaders were interviewed, staff and parents recorded their views via a survey, dozens of students were interviewed, books were trawled, behaviour was scrutinised, incidents were investigated, policies were examined and most importantly GCSE results from the last three years were scrutinised to ascertain whether student from all backgrounds and abilities were making good progress.

The inspectors came to the conclusion that Glebelands is a Good school ‘where students feel safe, happy and have positive attitudes to learning’.

The students were impeccably behaved throughout and the inspection team commented on this. A third of all the lessons that were observed were judged to be ‘Outstanding’.

Headteacher, Mrs Hutchinson, commented in her letter to parents following the inspection that ‘the report is a fair and promising reflection of where we are now and a fantastic platform on which to continue our journey towards outstanding’.

She continued ‘there is no question that we have a significant amount of outstanding practice in the school already and our mission now will be to share and spread the quality of this work right across the school’.

We wanted to thank the Cranleigh community for their ongoing and overwhelming support of the school and for the many kind messages of support that we received.
