LETTER: Blueprint for Horsham future

The three neighbourhood councils, Denne, Forest and Trafalgar have joined together as ‘Horsham Blueprint’ to lead on the creation of a Neighbourhood Forum to produce a Neighbourhood Plan for the unparished area of our town.

Everybody who lives, works or carries on business in the unparished area is invited to work towards establishing, building and enacting a vision and planning policies for our community that have real impact through the Neighbourhood Plan. This will be the people’s vision for the future of our town and will have statutory powers. Anyone who cares about the future of our market town, do get in touch and join the forming Horsham Blueprint Neighbourhood Forum.

Horsham Blueprint has been awarded support from the Department of Communities and Local Government and Locality to help get the Neighbourhood Forum started.

A consultant, Angela Koch from Imagine-Places, will be supporting us to get the process underway. Her first visit was on October 2 when she was due to meet with the Blueprint steering group, HDC officers, local councillors, Horsham Town Community Partnership, Horsham Society and local residents.

This is a very exciting opportunity. We are looking for as many people as possible to be involved, sharing ideas, skills, talents. We will be running open events to give everyone the chance to take part.

We are particularly interested to work in partnership with businesses, schools, faith groups, charities, residents associations and other organisations that are active in the town.

If you want to reclaim your road as a space for children to play, or you are worried about people being isolated or lonely and think there is a need for more community places, or you think we need to have more affordable housing and local jobs in the town, then now is the time to get involved.
