Mums’ lifeline

I was thrilled to see that Rustington Parish Council had given its group parishioners’ award to the Mod Mums Coffee Club this year (Gazette, October 3).

This wonderful group, started by Jean Marshall and friends at the Methodist Church, has been providing friendship and fun for mums and children for 45 years (we celebrated earlier this year).

It’s a welcome break, when the children are looked after by lively ladies in the crèche, so mums can actually relax and chat over a cup of coffee. It has been a real life-saver for some. I first went with my children 40 years ago, then with my grandchildren, and now I’m the tea lady (so I don’t have to leave!).

If any mums would like to join us in the lounge at the Methodist Church, from 9.50-11.30am on Wednesdays, I’ll give you a cheery smile! All are welcome.
